In 1995 Lake Village, Arkansas was awarded a Governors Partnership Grant for Rural Consortium, that provided after school art and theater classes It was an honor to be hired to teach in the after school acting class of 16 children from Lake Side Elementary. It began with a simple theme about a magical sunflower that granted wishes but was dying because no one was taking care of her. They weren't taking good care of each other either. The class embraced the story line and took off in what can only be best described as an expressive collective consciousness of spiritual intuitiveness. In amazement, I watched as the play seamlessly flowed. The children quickly adopted parts and sprang into action with natural velocity; acting it out with out any breaks. I was compelled to write it down. The depth of their mature sense of a valued community and belief of being the change was astounding. The children's play became a living illustration of the Seven Spiritual Laws by Deepak Chopra . This collective soul transformed through them intuitively ; almost as if were scripted. Follow their amazing tale of adventure with Emma, Becca & Brody as they defeat the Anger Dahs and restore the town of Colane,save the life of the Magical Sunflower and themselves. |
